HARARE - Ndongosimudza Musoro hit-maker Soul Jah Love has composed a song in honour of President Robert Mugabe to be released tomorrow at Gwanzura Stadium during a celebratory for concert for the Zanu PF leader.

Simba Marachera, who produced the Mugabe praise song titled Zimbabwe, told the Daily News that the controversial dancehall star was looking forward to launching the song at tomorrow’s concert.

“Yes Soul Jah Love has composed a song that praises and honours President Mugabe,” said Marachera who is known in dancehall circles as Father Paris.

“Soul Jah Love is going to sing for President Mugabe at Friday’s event at Gwanzura.”

The Mbare chanter was repeatedly unreachable but Partson Chimbodza of Chipaz Promotions, who is one of the organisers of the celebratory bash for the Zanu PF leader’s 90th birthday, confirmed his participation in the Gwanzura concert.

“I have asked to assist in organising the president’s concert. Soul Jah Love will share stage with about 25 musicians including sungura star Alick Macheso, Suluman Chimbetu, Jah Prayzah, Mathias Mhere and several dancehall musicians such as Killer T.”

The Ndongosimudza Musoro singer has steadily risen to become one of the hottest artistes on the Zimbabwean dancehall circuit. Soul Jah Love, has, however, unfortunately developed a bad reputation for failing to fulfil gigs despite receiving deposits or advance payments.

The Mbare dancehall artiste was reportedly paid by Whispers Night Club to do a gig on Valentine’s Day but he did not turn up. According to reports, Soul Jah Love instead chose to perform in BeitBridge leaving Whispers Night Club and scores of fans who had turned up for his show stranded.

In addition to failing to honour the Whispers Night Club gig, Soul Jah Love, along with fellow Mbare chanter Seh Calaz, also failed to feature in a dancehall concert organised by Chipaz Promotions also on Valentine’s Day.

Another Harare Night Club called Super Label also allege that Soul Jah Love failed to  show up at their venue for a Zim Dancehall show hosted by Aftershock Entertainment at the venue two weeks ago.
