HARARE - Black Rhinos assistant coach Ndega Matsika says his team’s preparations are well on course for the upcoming 2014 Castle Premiership season.
The soldiers, who escaped relegation on the last day of the season last year, returned from a two-week training camp in Kariba last week.
Chauya Chipembere have over the years utilised the training facilities at Wafa Wafa camp, on the shores of Lake Kariba, and Matsika is confident it helped the players to build on their mental strength.
“Our preparations for the new season are going on very well. We are looking forward to do well in the Premiership this time around,” Matsika told Daily News yesterday.
“We want to take each game as it comes. Our aim is to do well and win as many games as we can until mid-season then we will take it from there.
“The camp in Kariba is mainly meant to bring the players closer. As we start a new season with some new and old players, it is important that they get to know each other.”
Rhinos have retained the bulk of their players from last year while capturing the services of former Monomotapa and CAPS United midfield hardman Charles Chiutsa.
Negotiations to bring forward Beaven Chikaka are at an advanced stage. The former Highlanders striker has since started training with the army side.
Rhinos have lined up friendly matches against fellow army side Buffaloes in Mutare at the weekend before facing Chapungu the following weekend.
