BULAWAYO - How Mine coach Philani Ncube believes Kuda Musharu’s involvement in the club can be the catalyst to success in their maiden African inter-club football campaign.
The Bulawayo outfit is pinning hopes on the former Monomotapa striker to provide the goals against St Michel of Seychelles in the second round of the second-tier Caf Confederations Cup tomorrow.
Just like they did in the previous round – Chikurupati have targeted a big win in the first leg at Barbourfields Stadium tomorrow ahead of next week’s return leg away to the Indian Ocean islanders – who are experienced campaigners in continental competitions.
Musharu scored three goals in How Mine’s preliminary round tie against Chuoni FC of Zanzibar and Ncube hopes his talismanic forward can take that form to the next round.
How Mine eased through 6-1 on aggregate.
“I wouldn’t mind if we score two or three goals without conceding and Musharu will be key,” said Ncube. “That will be a healthy lead that we can defend when we go to Seychelles.”
Meanwhile, defender Herbert Dick was conspicuous by his absence from How Mine’s training session yesterday, fuelling speculation that the well-travelled veteran stopper is seeking a move to Premiership returnees Bantu Rovers, who have bounced back to the top-flight league after merging with newly-promoted Plumtree Chiefs.
St Michel were meanwhile expected in Bulawayo last night.
