HARARE - Coca-Cola Zimbabwe, the country’s largest soft drink manufacturer, this week launched its 2014 Football World Cup competition.
Dubbed the “2014 World Cup Soccer Samba Promotion” the competition will run until May 31, just before the greatest sporting showpiece on earth explodes into life in Brazil.
Coca-Cola consumers and football lovers stand to win several prizes and home entertainment centres. The competition will be held under the theme, “It’s my cup, it’s your cup, it’s our cup, and it’s the World Cup.”.
Coca-Cola’s Zimbabwe senior operations and marketing manager Noma Halimana said: “Sports and specifically soccer is a passion we share with the youth of this great country.
“It is important to emphasise the fact that before we cast our eyes towards the World Cup in Brazil, we are particularly excited about this Coca-Cola Soccer Samba Promotion in Zimbabwe.”
Coca-Cola, one of the biggest benefactors of sports in the world, has been supporting grassroots development through the Copa Coca-Cola initiative for the past 25 years.
Globally, Coca-Cola is recognised as the longest-standing partner of the Fifa World Cup and the Olympic Games, the two greatest sporting events in the world.
“We have had a formal partnership that began in 1974, and has had stadium advertising at every Fifa World Cup since 1950,” said Halimana.
In 2005, Fifa and Coca Cola extended their partnership for a further 16 years from 2007 until 2022.
