EDITOR — Coalition Against Corruption (CAC), the leading anti-corruption organisation in Zimbabwe supports the calls by Parliament that Joice Mujuru should appear before the august House and respond on her previous remarks in which she reportedly wanted the media to stop reporting on corruption cases.
CAC believes that Mujuru owes the people of Zimbabwe an apology and explanation pertaining to how she dismissed the media reports that exposed serious corruption scandals that characterised a number of parastatals in the country.
As the “mother of the nation” Mujuru should clarify her position to Parliament.
CAC however is confident that Mujuru will do so since corruption has rendered the poorest of the poor to wallow in abject poverty while a few greedy individuals continue to live in splendour.
CAC again demands that legislators publicly declare their assets if they are really serious about combating graft in the country.
It does not make sense for an MP to rubbish and demand explanations from certain quarters yet they are failing to come out clean.
Like what the famous Edict of Emancipation of March 1867 in which the great Russian Tsar Alexander liberated and freed millions of serfs from serfdom by proclaiming at the Kremlin Square “It is better to abolish serfdom from above rather than wait for it to abolish itself from below.”
So is the issue of corruption in Zimbabwe. It is a real time bomb poor people are sick and tired of watching a few are living off expensive lifestyles while others wallow in abject poverty One day they will say enough is enough .
Lets reject corruption and expose greedy kleptomaniacs.
