HARARE - Jah Prayzah is set to share the stage with self-exiled Chimurenga music guru Thomas Mapfumo in April in South Africa.
A South African pop group, Uhuru will also share the stage with the two. Jah Prayzah says he is ecstatic.
The artiste, who recently entertained guests at Bona and Simba Chikore’s wedding, will share the stage with Mapfumo for the first time.
“I am very happy to share the stage with one of the most popular artistes from Zimbabwe,” said the 26-year-old musician. “It is my wish to capitalise on his popularity to market myself internationally.
“It is obvious that the event is going to draw many people from the region; hence there is no other platform to market ourselves better than this one.”
The event organised and sponsored by Silent Killer will be held on April 25 to 27.
“Our first show will be in Cape Town at Chary’s Kitchen on April 25 and the following day we will move to Johannesburg where we will perform at Standard Bank Arena before ending our tour in Mussina on April 27 at Mussina Show Ground,” said the Tsviriyo hit-maker.
Last year, Mapfumo, popularly known as Mukanya or Gandanga by his legion of fans, shared the stage with another equally-talented young artiste, Enock “Nox” Guni in the United Kingdom where Mukanya launched the album World on Fire.
Fans will have a chance to buy Mukanya’s latest album which he said reflects the various problems affecting many countries in the world.
“It is an album that looks at serious problems affecting the world; the world is really on fire,” Mapfumo said in a recent interview with the Daily News.
The 69-year-old Corruption and Mamvemve singer is now based in Oregon in the United States of America. He left the country nine years ago and has not been in Zimbabwe over the last five years.
An attempt to bring Mukanya back to perform with fellow superstar Oliver Mtukudzi a few years back failed to materialise.
Mukanya’s music career spans over 40 years.
