HARARE - Munyaradzi Chiwara’s solitary strike five minutes from time was all Yadah FC needed to collect maximum points in a Castle Lager Premiership match here yesterday.
Chiwara capitalised on some poor defending by the Air Force of Zimbabwe side before sending a powerful shot into the top corner from the edge of the box.
Yadah interim coach Thomas Ruzive was a relieved man after the final whistle.
“I’m very relieved with the win. These three points are very important to us especially at this stage of the season as we are fighting relegation,” he said.
“I’m very happy with the way the boys played and hopefully we will continue like this. This win gives us confidence going forward and we want to build on this win in our next assignments.”
Chapungu coach Tendai Chikuni, however, blamed the defeat on poor officiating.
“This is football and when you don’t convert your chances you are bound to be punished but at the same time there are several aspects that you also have to look at,” Chikuni said.
“When you look at a situation where sometimes the match is being controlled by the referees; if you look at all the injuries that we got today there was no protection from the referee.
“At the same time it’s not only about this game but we are looking at the games to come. The officiating was not on our side.
“On the tactical side we were okay but missed a number of chances.”
