HARARE - Parliament has invited Green Fuel (Private) Limited to give oral evidence on their level of compliance with the country’s indigenisation laws and the challenges the company is facing.
Green Fuel will appear before the parliamentary portfolio committee on Youth, Indigenisation and Economic Empowerment today.
The appearance of Green Fuel before the committee chaired by Gokwe-Nembudziya MP Justice Mayor Wadyajena follows calls by feisty Zanu PF legislator for Hurungwe West Temba Mliswa for government to investigate the operations of the company.
Wadyajena’s committee wants Green Fuel to give a synopsis of the activities Green Fuel is undertaking under its corporate social responsibility programme.
The company will also furnish the committee with information regarding the ownership of the land on which they are farming as well as articulating their general opinion on the country’s empowerment laws.
In a letter addressed to Green Fuel dated March 6, clerk of Parliament, Austin Zvoma invited the firm to present themselves in the Senate chamber today.
“As part of the committee’s ongoing oversight mandate, the committee invites you to a meeting on Thursday 27th March 2014 at 1000hours in the Senate Chamber,” the letter reads.
Green Fuel is a joint venture between Billy Rautenbach’s Ratings Investments and State-owned Arda.
