Tertiary fees too high

EDITOR — Tertiary education has become so expensive in this country.

Many universities in the country are so expensive such that an ordinary person can not even afford.

Education should be accessed by any one and I wonder with the rate at which the fees are being hiked, where is this country is heading to?

Getting a degree in this country has become so difficult and in most cases the undeserving students proceed to universities because the whole process is marred with corruption.

Most parents end up paying bribes for their children to get places in universities.

At a certain State university in this country Law is only reserved for a few and it is by hook and crook to get a place to study Law because the places will be reserved for other people.

Most students are failing to do degree programmes they really deserve because of the graft in these universities.

Many people have their dreams shuttered because they fail to enrol into university.

Tertiary education  has become a privilege not a right.

Only the elites and the middle class can afford to pay the huge amounts required.

No wonder why most female students in universities engage in prostitution to earn a living.

In most case rentals will be high and many students fail to make ends meet.

The government has tried by introducing the cadetship programme but only a few are assisted. If only they could assist more students
