Sadiki on trials at TP Mazembe

HARARE - After a tumultuous few weeks in which he has been at the centre of a maintenance storm, Ali Sadiki could be in for a dose of good news after being called up for trials by Congolese giants TP Mazembe.

Sadiki joined the four-time African champions early this week where they have set up a series of friendly matches in the Zambian Copperbelt city of Ndola.

The FC Platinum midfielder is joined at the Lubumbashi based side’s week-long training camp by Zambian central defender and club mate Aaron Katebe.

Mazembe currently have four Zambians on their books in the form of defender Kabaso Chongo, midfielder Rainford Kalaba as well as strikers Jonas Sakuwaha and Given Singuluma.

Apart from evaluating the FC Platinum duo, TP Mazembe coach Patrice Carteron is also using the

FC Platinum public relations officer Chido Chizondo confirmed the duo’s trip to Zambia but dismissed their stint at the Ravens as a “showcase.”

“They have gone for a showcase. If they impress that is when they will be called for trials,” she said.

Chizondo added they would not stand in the two players’ way if they are to be called up by the illustrious DRC side.

“We always support progress. So if its progress for them it’s progress for the club.”

Sadiki and Katebe will miss today’s Uhuru Cup final against Dynamos but are expected to re-join FC Platinum on Sunday.
