MUTARE - Opposition members sympathetic to MDC leader Morgan Tsvangirai forced open the MDC provincial offices here and seized a vehicle, two computers, an electric fan and party membership cards to stop the rival renewal team loyal to  expelled secretary-general Tendai Biti from using the items.

Three of the suspects who seized the property were arrested late on Monday and are assisting police with investigations.

Pishai Muchauraya, the former provincial spokesperson who is loyal to Biti and his renewal team, named former Mutasa South MP Misheck Kagurabadza, youth members Knowledge Nyamhoka, and Allen Gadzikwa in the seizure of the property.

Kagurabadza’s vehicle was allegedly used in ferrying the seized property, that has since been recovered and is being held at Mutare Central Police Station as exhibits.

The other pro-Tsvangirai suspects involved in the seizure operation were named as Huggins Kashiri and Llyod Mahute, and both are said to be on the run.

No comment was available from Chris Ndlovu, a lawyer representing the suspects, and party national spokesperson Douglas Mwonzora, who was tied up in a national council meeting that resolved to expel Biti and his co-conspirators from the party yesterday.

The suspects were likely to appear in court on Wednesday, with the hunt for their co-accused underway.
