HARARE - The National Federation of Zimbabwe Bodybuilding and Fitness (NFZBBF) is inching closer to electing a substantive committee in a bid to align their constitution to the Sports and Recreation Committee (SRC) guidelines.
The SRC has requested NFZBBF to submit a report and action plan together with its updated draft constitution on Monday.
The local bodybuilding governing body would then avail a corrected draft constitution by June 1 after which a special general meeting will be convened to adopt the new charter.
After all the procedures have been followed, an annual general meeting to elect a substantive committee would then be held on November 29.
Quiet Shangai, the NFZBBF spokesperson, said he was grateful for the support they are receiving from the SRC, which is the country’s supreme sports regulatory body.
“This is an endorsement of how much confidence the SRC has in the NFZBBF as an able body to run the bodybuilding operations in the country and that’s the only way towards operating a fully-fledged bodybuilding federation,” Shangai told the Daily News yesterday.
Meanwhile, the NFZBBF has despatched a-four-men delegation to Kadoma to negotiate sponsorship for the Mr and Ms Ironman contest to be held next month.
The event is set to return to the Odyssey Centre in Kadoma after a successful show last year.
The delegation is made up of NFZBBF interim president, Kenny Murugweni, treasurer Prince Mugeyi, spokesperson and organising committee member Keith Chirimanzi and Shangai.
Coloursel Furniture, a Kadoma company, is set to continue its partnership with contest after coming aboard last year.
“We are just going there to finalise sponsorship for the event and after this visit then we will be in a position to confirm the venue for this year’s contest,” Shangai added.
“We had a good show in Kadoma last year, a good turn out from both the athletes and the fans and as a result they are other stakeholders who feel the show should be staged there again. But that’s not a one man’s decision hence the need to consult other stakeholders as well.”
The Mr Ironman title was won by Vincent Kandiero while reigning Mr Zimbabwe Champion Chienderamwano and Isaac Chimuchenga, the current Mr Botswana, came second and third respectively.
Regina Jonga won the Ms Ironman with Maureen Magudu finishing in second place.
The juniors’ category was won by Donald Maphosa ahead of Reginald Pasara and Dalvin Page in second and third place respectively.
