HARARE - Dancehall star Soul Jah Love’s former manager, Courage Zikhali, has dismissed the controversial artiste’s latest track titled Handimbomira as “sour grapes.”

Zikhali, who recently parted ways with the Simudza Musoro singer under acrimonious circumstances, told the Daily News yesterday that Soul Jah Love’s attack in the new song was motivated by sheer bitterness.

“He is just bitter because I took away all the things I had given him,” said Zikhali.

“I will not continue to respond to his silly games. We had a fallout and he is handling it the best way he can. Singing is his field and I cannot compete with him on that front.”

The dancehall star’s former manager, however, expressed disappointment with the way his well-intentioned actions were misconstrued by Soul Jah Love.

“He failed to realise what I wanted to do for him and failed to adhere to our arrangements,” said Zikhali.

I am now working with other artistes and I will not be dragged down that path. I will not be commenting anymore on what he is saying. It is childish and I will not fight with him.

“I am a businessman and my focus is on running my businesses and helping artistes who want to be helped,” he said.

In the just-released track, Soul Jah Love savages Zikhali and boldly declares that he has the talent to continue flourishing without the support of his ex-manager.

Part of the controversial song goes: Nyangwe ukandidhama Hummer…
Kunyangwe ukafunga kuti ndochinoimba ndini ndinoimba
Bhutsu haiimbe, hembe haiimbe, mota haiimbe ndini chete ndinoimba
Unoda kundimisa unototora voice
Asi uzochenjera boys panozoita noise.

Loosely translated in English the lyrics mean, “Even if you take away your Hummer, it won’t stop me from singing. Your clothes, your shoes, your car do not sing. I am the one who sings. If you want to stop me from singing you will have to take away my voice, but be warned because my fans will react violently to that.”

In the song, Soul Jah Love also attacks the media for spreading lies about him and tarnishing his image at the instigation of Zikhali.
