DeMbare seek revenge

HARARE - Dynamos assistant coach Tichaona Diya is itching for revenge against Hwange when the two teams clash in a Castle Premiership match at the Colliery on Sunday.

The Glamour Boys have not forgotten the humiliating 4-2 defeat they suffered at the hands of Chipangano last season. The defeated was somehow a bitter pill to swallow as it almost cost DeMbare the league title.

Diya believes this is the right time DeMbare stamp their authority as they seek a fourth straight league championship having won the previous three editions.

“At Dynamos we always have targets on every game that we play. Our main focus on this game is to collect three and maintain consistency,” Diya told the Daily News yesterday.

“We won out last three matches and we have been telling the boys not to get carried away and stay focused.

“Our game against Hwange is one that we need to win at all costs. We are going there for a result. They beat us the last time we met and we can’t lose again this time around.

“We need to have character. We can’t lose twice to the same team at the same venue”.

Midfield hardman Stephen Alimenda is expected to return back to the fold after missing last week’s 1-0 win against Triangle.

The highly mobile midfielder watched the Triangle match from the terraces while serving suspension for accumulating three yellow cards.

And after winning their last three matches by 1-0 margins, Diya expect their strikers to come to the part this time around.

“We are still working on our team to be a complete unity. We need to improve in every match that we play. We have not been scoring many goals but we hope to come good this time around,” Diya said.

“Sometimes playing at home is difficult for these players. But now that we will be playing away from home we hope goals will come. This is a marathon and we are within the touching distance.”

Dynamos still have some of their key players such as Masimba Mambare, Tawanda Muparati, Murape Murape, Devon Chafa, Sydney Linyama, Oscar Machapa and Tafadzwa Rusike dogged by varying injuries that have kept them out of action for extended periods.

Diya added: “We are happy with the current team that we have. No major changes are expected in the squad. We only need a replacement for (goalkeeper) George Chigova. He is going anytime soon and we need to look for another keeper.”
