HARARE - There was commotion in Mbare yesterday when visiting Jamaican dancehall artiste Turbulence paid an unexpected visit to Harare’s oldest ghetto.

Turbulence, real name Sheldon Campbell, had just finished presenting awards to winners of the recently held King of Dancehall clash held at City Sports Centre in Harare on Friday at Star FM, when he dashed out of the studio and rushed across Simon Mazorodze Road.

He took advantage of his ever busy promoter Barbara Chikosi aka Mama Red Rose, who was still engaged in business in the studio, and went outside, posed for pictures with eager fans and asked for some “herbs”.
He said he wanted a feel of the ghetto.

Turbulence was accompanied by rising artiste Genius, with his foray into the ghetto causing commotion as he was mobbed. He was plied with weed.

When he was asked what exactly he was looking for in Mbare, he said: “I got what I went there for.”

His promoter Chikosi later followed in her car and picked him up. She said she had no idea what was happening.

“I am surprised we did not plan this at all. One minute we were in the studio, the next he was gone,” she said.

The Real Warrior hit maker had come to grace the King of the Dancehall event in Harare and tonight he is set to rock Pick ‘n’ Save joint in Mutare before performing in Chitungwiza tomorrow at Aquatic Complex.
