Triangle hold Black Rhinos

KADOMA - Triangle coach Biggie Zuze was satisfied with his team’s performance in yesterday goalless draw here against Black Rhinos in a Castle Premiership match.

The sugar cane farmers, who have had a difficult start to their 2014 campaign, now have 10 points from 12 matches but are still in the relegation zone.

“I think a point will make a different. We are still in the danger zone but picking up a point away from home will give us the confidence we need going forward in our next matches,” Zuze said after the match.

Zuze has been under increasing pressure after Triangle’s poor start but it seems that results are just around the corner for the Chiredzi-based side.

Yesterday’s draw comes hot on the heels of last weekend’s 1-1 draw with title-chasing Highlanders at Gibbo Stadium.

These latest results will give Zuze more time to try and turn around the fortunes of the sugar cane farmers.

Rhinos coach Arthur Tutani was disappointed with the results as they hoped to collect maximum points on home turf.

“We were desperate for maximum points and considering the position we are now in, I’m a bit worried,” he said.

Yesterday’s match started with both sides taking turns to go on the attack but there was a lack of clear cut opportunities.

With the two teams desperate for the points, it was no surprise that they were too cautious as they did not want to leave any spaces in their backlines.

The first real opportunity in the first half fell to the visitors who had a short cleared off the line by Rhinos captain Bruce Homora five minutes befoe the break.

In the second period, Triangle also came close to scoring when William Mapfumo’s header missed the target by a few inches.

The home side also came close with a free kick by striker Brian Muzondiwa that brought the best out of Triangle keeper Ronald Mudimu.

Meanwhile, Bantu Rovers clobbered Buffaloes 3-1 in a Premiership match at Luveve Stadium in Bulawayo yesterday.
