MASVINGO - Controversial Botswana music diva Naledi “Slizer” Kaisara will be the star attraction at a charity concert set for Mucheke Stadium on Saturday that will also feature local crowd pullers Suluman Chimbetu and Mathias Mhere.
The high-profile concert, being organised by the Chivi Rural District Council, aims to raise funds to build houses for orphans and widows in the district.
Chivi Rural District Council chairperson Killer Zivhu, the organiser of the show, told the Daily News that the concert would feature several upcoming dancehall artistes.
“We have partnered with Sulu, Mhere and the Botswana music diva, Slizer to host this gala at Mucheke stadium,” said Zivhu.
“We want to use the music show to raise funds for the underprivileged members of our society while we provide entertainment to the people of Masvingo at the same time,” he said.
Zivhu revealed that Slizer was already in the country ready for what organisers believe would be one of the biggest shows to be held in Masvingo.
“The long winter night on Saturday will be very short as fans will be treated to a rare entertaining show. The musicians have all promised to keep them on their toes,” Zivhu added.
Suluman told the Daily News yesterday that his music brand was proud to be associated with charity initiatives that bring smiles to the faces of underprivileged people.
“We promise to deliver the best show at the gala and I urge all those who love Dendera music from Chivi, Gutu and other districts of Masvingo to come and watch me doing the best thing ever,” said Sulu.
Dancehall artistes who will perform at the Mucheke gala include Dregga B, Ras Murky, Wailer Master, Ras Tiger and Lady B.
The Saturday concert follows a recent donation made by Mhere and Suluman to a Chivi widow, Elizabeth Sithole, who lives with seven orphans in Madyangove village. The two popular musicians, in conjunction with the Chivi Rural District Council, donated building material worth thousands of dollars that Sithole will use to construct a three bedroomed house and a big round hut.
