HARARE - Dynamos team manager Richard Chihoro yesterday revealed the Glamour Boys are not shaken by recent reports that some of their key players will be moving to top South African clubs during the mid-season transfer period.
The Glamour Boys, who have already lost goalkeeper George Chigova to Supersport United could also see players like Devon Chafa, Stephen Alimenda, Partson Jaure, Tafadzwa Rusike and Augustine Mbara join the great trek to South Africa.
Striker Roderick Mutuma, who rejoined DeMbare this year from Bloemfontein Celtic following the termination of his contract, is also reportedly heading back to South Africa.
Calisto Pasuwa’s men currently lie third on the log standings after 12 matches, tied on 22 points with leaders Hwange and How Mine as they face Chicken Inn tomorrow.
Chihoro, however, revealed they are not losing any sleep over the rumours and are focused on collecting maximum points at the weekend.
“No team has approached us as yet and we are not reading much into the speculations,” Chihoro told the Daily News yesterday.
“We are preparing for our match against Chicken Inn at the weekend and everyone is looking forward to that game. Morale is high in camp. We hope the boys will not be distracted.
“These things do happen, especially at this time of the season. We want to remain focused on the task at hand. We are reaching the crucial stage of the season and we can’t afford to lose players at this point in time.”
The Glamour Boys will be looking to continue with their fine form. DeMbare are in high spirits after beating old rivals Highlanders 1-0 last weekend at the National Sports Stadium.
Pasuwa will be hoping his under-fire strike force comes to the part this time around. One thing that has been evident in DeMbare’s matches this season is their lack of fire power upfront, where strikers Washington Pakamisa, Anesu Gondo, Simba Sithole and Patrick Khumbula have been off colour.
Meanwhile, Dynamos received a psychological boost ahead of their clash against Chicken Inn after their match was moved to Barbourfields Stadium.
The tie had been slated for Luveve Stadium where DeMbare tend to struggle. The Glamour Boys have in past years turned Barbourfields their favourite hunting ground, posting some impressive results there.
DeMbare have this season managed to beat How Mine (2-1) in their opening match of the season and have also thumped Bantu Rovers (3-1) at Barbourfields. The Glamour Boys enjoy a large following at Barbourfields and should be bracing for their match against the Gamecocks there.
