HARARE - Aspiring junior bodybuilders have must bring their national registration identification documents in order to participate at this weekend’s Ironman contest.
The year’s second bodybuilding event will be held at the Odyssey Centre in Kadoma tonight with most of the leading athletes in the country expected to take part in the contest.
The contest is set to feature five bodybuilding categories namely; senior men, junior men, bodybuilding women, male fitness physique and the female fitness physique.
The Junior Mr and Ms Ironman category is open to those athletes in the Under-20 age group.
National Federation of Zimbabwe Bodybuilding and Fitness (ZNFBBF) spokesperson, Quite Shangai said the move was aimed to ensure there is no age-cheating.
“Juniors must bring their original IDs together with photocopies. Without an original ID one will be treated as a senior,” Shangai told the Daily News.
“This is just a precautionary measure we are taking as a federation to ensure fairness and transparency.”
Meanwhile, about 40 bodybuilders have confirmed that they will take part in tonight’s contest including defending champion, Vincent Kandiero.
Other leading bodybuilders include Brighton Mazikana, Isaac Chimuchenga, Paul Goredema, Tapiwa Sibanda, Garikai Mujuru and Paul Matimbe.
Veteran athlete Zumailer Eusen Maman, who originates from Kodama, also wants to give it a go one more time before his home fans.
Some of the other athletes to look out for on Saturday are Noah Dzvokora, Reginald Pasara, Blessing Pambiri, Mike Alimu and Lovemore Manyamana.
The likes of Dalvin Page, Peter Welensk, Thonkozo, Mahlangu and Regina Jonga have also confirmed their participation in the contest.
Top Zambian bodybuilder, Sylvester Mwila is expected to grace the event.
