HARARE - Controversial sungura artiste Jacob Moyana has released his debut Kana Muchitidako DVD which comprises five videos.
He said it was a way of familiarising himself with fans and promoters. .
“My music took the showbiz industry by storm but I am now getting worried as some bogus musicians are plotting my downfall by moving around disguising as the Kana Muchitidako singer thereby conning some unsuspecting music promoters,” he said.
“I am warning these people to desist from the habit of masquerading as me. I have since released a DVD hoping to help my fans to distinguish me from fake musicians,” the Chipinge-born artiste added.
Moyana hopes the DVD album will go a long way in promoting his name and music in showbiz.
“Naturally, some fans prefer videos than a CD hence I hope the DVD album is going to put the Black Hunters Band to another level in the music industry,” he said.
Moyana, who broke into limelight through his controversial lyrics, is putting final touches to his forthcoming album to be titled Tombomamira Madhiri Acho.
“I am looking forward to releasing another album this year and I will launch it together with an accompanying DVD,” said Moyana, who was given a new bass guitar by Mutare businessman-cum-musician Brian Samaita as a token of appreciation for his music.
When he relocated from Beitbridge to Harare early this year, Moyana was under severe attack from fellow artistes as well as music listeners because of his seemingly vulgar lyrics.
Moyana denies this, saying he originally hailed from a Ndau speaking community, hence some words used in the dialect appear vulgar in other parts of Zimbabwe.
Moyana’s music has since been accepted by many, hence giving him the opportunity to share the stage with top artistes such as Alick Macheso, Suluman Chimbetu, Progress Chipfumo and Jah Prayzah among others.
