EDITOR — When Jesus and his disciples were confronted by a serious situation he advised them to watch and pray (Matthew 26:36-46).
They were in the garden of Getsemane, Judas Iscariot and the Jews wanted to arrest Jesus.
Jesus then told his disciples to watch and pray so that they could not enter into temptation.
Observe, Jesus says they need to avoid getting into temptation.
A lot of times people want God to get them out of trouble if you watch and pray, you stay alert and may not enter into the temptation in the first place.
You need to eliminate possible ways in which the devil can trap you.
Make it hard if not impossible for the devil to hurt you.
Make it your lifestyle so that when trouble comes you are always ready for it.
Sometimes we get into trouble because we do not want to pray although we love the benefits of prayer.
We need to develop our spiritual senses of talking to God.
The Bible says Jesus went into the mountain to pray “as was his custom,” (Luke 22:39).
When something is a custom, it is done repetitively and in a patterned fashion.
When you stay in the presence of God you know the devil’s tactics and you can counteract them.
It is unwise to think you will fight on the day of trouble. The devil should always find you ready for him.
Remember the time when Jesus was tempted by the devil, the Bible expressly says he left him alone for an opportune time.
Understand that the devil is never really gone, he simply looks for yet another opportunity to attack you.
Jesus in the garden of Getsemane said to the disciples “ the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak.”
He understands that the flesh can get weary but the fight against the devil needs you to remain strong and “watch for another hour”.
The third time Jesus found the disciples asleep again and said “the hour has come, the son of man is delivered into the hands of sinners...”
We are delivered over to devil and left vulnerable if we do not remain watchful.
The disciples were caught off-guard and they fled and left Jesus.
Blessed are those who remain prayerful and watchful for they shall apprehend the devil in this holy war and defeat him.
But be warned we do not just pray randomly, the Bible says in Ephesians 6:18 “ Pray in the Spirit on all occasions...”
That is to say in harmony with what the Spirit of God tells you.
If you do not hear Him (the Spirit of God) and yet you are God’s son be very worried.
For this reason we have established The 24 hour hospital of God. Visit their Facebook page and see how you can be helped.
