ZVISHAVAVNE - A late sublime strike by Clemence Matawu strike was all Chicken Inn needed to reach the semi-finals of the One Wallet Cup at FC Platinum’s expense yesterday here.

With the match seemingly headed for a draw and a penalty shootout, Matawu made a clever run into the Platinum box where e met a George Majika cross with a well-executed volley that beat goalkeeper Petros Mhari eight minutes from time.

Chicken Inn coach Joey Antipas was pleased with his team’s performance against the home side that enjoyed a lot of the vocal support.

“It’s a good feeling to be in the next round. I thought we deserved it,” said Antipas after the match.

“The boys put up a good show. It’s good to be in the semi-finals but we need to take each game as it comes because these are cup games.”

FC Platinum coach, Lloyd Mutasa blamed the defeat on the lack of creativity from his players.

“I think we did not create enough chances. We were always second to the ball,” he said.

“W gave them too much space. If you can’t create chances then you will not score.”
