HARARE - Upcoming singer and songwriter, Alfred Nenguwo, announced his arrival on Zimbabwe’s musical landscape with the launch of a video single titled Ndomirira last week at the Sable Lodge in Harare.
The video, which was shot at the scenic Domboshava Hills, is a narrative driven by the theme of a couple deeply in love. The concept behind the video is a celebration of harmonious love and the beauty of connection between two people. Nenguwo’s vocal projection exudes both maturity and creativity.
The video is of a quality nature and the cameraman hit some breath-taking shots. The two characters in the video Alfred and Millicent Muchati also did a good job as they looked so comfortable in front of the cameras. Millicent has an amazing voice which blended well with Alfred’s rich vocal powers.
The music cuts through all age groups. The cultural values inherent in the video give it a unique touch as most upcoming young artistes are trying to run away from their rich cultural foundations.
That Nenguwo bears an uncanny resemblance to Ringo Madlingozi in as far as looks are concerned gave him an immediate connection to the guests invited to the launch.
“I owe my talent to God. The type of music I’m doing is a blessing. God has blessed me. Music is my life. I am a bit of an introvert; I spend my time writing. I have enough music to last me a lifetime. I am so grateful,” said Nenguwo.
People who braved the chilly weather were also treated to a selection of Nenguwo’s yet-to-be released music.
His manager, Da Maziofa, said it took hard work, perseverance and sheer faith to both shoot and launch the video single. Speaking from her United Kingdom base Da said she will go all the way and make sure the young man realises his full potential.
The launch which was conducted in a gazebo was one of a kind. The small crowd was appreciative and could not remain glued to their seats as the video was officially unleashed for the first time. It was clear that a star had been born.
Morgan Mutsau urged the youngster to remain humble; “Fame is a very powerful thing and don’t let it get to your head but thrive to do better all the time.”
It remains to be seen what more can come out of this youngster but if his act at the video launch is anything to go by, then we can safely say the sky is the limit.
