Triangle................... (1) 2
How Mine.................(0) 0
LUVEVE - Triangle proved too powerful for How Mine when they collected maximum points during a Castle Premiership here yesterday.
The visitors, who appeared impressive right from the first whistle, deservedly took the lead as early as the 12th minute through a Hillary Bakacheza strike.
Bakacheza received a long ball in the box before beating his marker to shoot from an acute angle.
A few minutes later, Bakacheza was unlucky not to have scored his second of the match when his attempt was saved by Ephraim Mazarura.
With the visitors continuing to dictate the pace through their well-knitted passes, they were rewarded once again two minutes into the second half through Praise Tonha’s goal.
Tonha scored a wonderful free kick from 23 metres that left Mazarura clutching thin air.
Although How Mine tried to come back, they failed to convert the few chances they created into goals.
After the match, the home side’s coach Philani Ncube conceded that all was not well in the gold miners’ camp.
“Things are not well, the empire is crumbling,” said Ncube. “As much as we want to win, the truth is we are failing, all we need to do is to go back to the drawing board and see where we are getting it wrong.
“I should admit that although we did not utilise our chances, Triangle were the better team.”
On the other hand, Triangle coach Biggie Zuze praised his players for picking up three crucial points on the road.
“My boys played simple football especially the passing game that I have always taught them and they did just that,” he said.
“Things are beginning to shape up and at least we are heading in the right direction.”
In the earlier game at the same venue, Bantu Rovers and FC Platinum shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw.
Bantu captain Nqobizitha Masuku opened the scoring in the 56th minute when he headed home a cross from Bukhosi Sibanda.
The platinum miners had to dig deep for an equaliser that eventually arrived nine minutes from time when defender Aaron Katebe tapped the ball home after a goalmouth melee following
a corner kick by Thabani Kamusoko.
After the match, Bantu Rover’s coach Methembe Ndlovu said he has now a worried man.
“I am really disappointed. I feel I am not doing a good job. We are not getting results and I can confirm that nothing is working at the moment. Though we drew to me I feel like it’s a loss,” Ndlovu said.
FC Platinum coach Lloyd Mutasa said: “A draw is not a bad result after all but I feel we could have done better had our players not been injured. The injury of the goalkeeper and that of Gahadzikwa made my situation worse as it disrupted the whole game plan.”
Meanwhile, Shabanie Mine and Harare City drew 2-2 at Maglas Stadium while ZPC Kariba and Chiredzi FC drew 1-1 in the Lowveld.
