BULAWAYO - Rising artiste Emmanuel Majaya, 24, believes he has what it takes to make dancehall eclipse kwaito and house music in Bulawayo.

The young artiste, who is better known by the stage name Bovas, told the Daily News that Bulawayo has no capacity to withstand Zim dancehall’s tidal wave.

“Yes, it is not easy to force in a new genre of music, especially in a city where kwaito and house music have strong roots, but I can assure you, we are making huge strides,” Bovas said.

The upcoming crooner, who is one of the few dancehall musicians in the City of Kings, has just released a six-track album that he hopes will take him to the heights being scaled by his Harare-based music idol Soul Jah Love.

“My album is titled Ndachitwa and is a follow-up to my first album which was released last year.

“I am quite confident that I will be part of dancehall musicians who will make Bulawayo rival Harare as the new citadel of Zim dancehall,” said the ambitious Bovas.

The Bulawayo chanter is convinced that his second offering is a huge improvement on his debut album Ndakakanganisa.

“I am glad that I have managed to share the stage with the likes of Harare dancehall godfathers like Shinsoman, Killer T and Sniper Storm. Sharing the stage with these great ambassadors of Zim dancehall has inspired me to raise my music craft,” he said.

Bovas’ new album, which is still to be launched, carries potentially explosive tracks like Mad Time, Anorwadziwa and the title track Ndachitwa.

Other tracks include Vanofeeler Dizzy, Tipei Doro and Dai Muripo.

Bovas has already done videos for the title track and Vanofeeler Dizzy.

Ndachitwa was recorded at Wisdom Records in the city and was produced by renowned producer King Krued.

Bovas who is keen to do collaborations with the Mbare duo of Seh Calaz and Kinnah featured Centre Party, Daddy Simba and Cris Dreams on his latest album.
