HARARE - Highlanders will be seeking to redeem themselves when they face Shabanie Mine in a Chibuku Cup first round clash at Ascot Stadium this afternoon.
The Bulawayo giants have gone for four league games without a win and will be hoping to win back the confidence of their supporters.
With their last weekend defeat to Dynamos, Bosso dropped from the summit of the Castle Premiership log to fourth position with 32 and now trail the log leaders ZPC Kariba with three points.
“Preparations of our game against Shabanie Mine are going on well and we are looking for a positive result on Sunday,” Highlanders coach Kelvin Kaindu told the Daily News on Sunday.
“We just need to approach the game with positive mind and get a result because the nature of a Cup tournament is that a team will not get a second chance to correct their mistakes.
The former Bosso player is also concerned about his side's lack of creativity upfront in the previous four matches.
“As Highlanders we take every game that we play seriously and if look in our previous games we played well but failed to utilise chances and we hope to improve on this one,” he said.
“We are getting there in terms of attacking but we are failing to convert our chances and in football if you fail to use your chances at the end of the day you will get punished.
“We want to be on our best on Sunday, sometimes results don’t go in our favour but that doesn’t mean we should give up.
“We just need to play our normal game. We don’t want to put ourselves under unnecessary pressure.”
Shabanie have had a very difficult season thus far in the league and will be looking for some solace in this cup competition.
John Phiri’s charges are coming from a 3-0 loss at the hands of log leaders ZPC Kariba and they will be hoping to end their six match losing streak.
Shabanie are currently on third position from the bottom of the log standing with 22 points from 19 games played.
