HARARE - Kieran Vincent emerged as the toast of the Bob Blake and Lewis Chitengwa trophy 2014 on Tuesday at Wingate Golf Club.

The St John’s College pupil amassed a gross score win of 144 after the two rounds of the 36 hole tournament.

Vincent was five points ahead of second-placed Justin Kersten while Mbongeni Maphosa and David Amm were tied for third place with gross scores of 151.

The tournament is played annually at Wingate in honour of Lewis Chitengwa, the first and only black player to win the Orange Bowl Trophy in the USA during his days.

Chitengwa is renowned for having beaten Tiger Woods when they were still juniors.

The Zimbabwean died at the age of 26 in 2001 after a bout of meningitis.

The tournament is part of the Zimbabwe Junior Golf Association’s national championships played during national school holidays.

The results of the tournaments contribute to the individual junior golfer’s national rankings.

The August tournaments wind up on Friday at Norton Golf Club with the Kundai Zivora Memorial Trophy.
