HARARE - Zimbabwe junior tennis players left the country yesterday ahead of the Africa Junior Championships qualifiers set for this weekend in Botswana.
Zimbabwe will be represented by eleven players, five boys and six girls.
“We send youngsters to these championships year-in-year-out and we have reaped huge benefits as the kids get international exposure,” coach Miracle Matanga told the Daily News yesterday.
“We have a good chance because our players have always done well in all age groups.
“It’s going to be very tough but we are very hopeful that our players are going to do well.”
In the Under-16 boys’ section, Zimbabwe will be represented by Tadiwa Chinamo and Julius Mutetwa while Dennis Moses and Tanaka Chabata will fly the country’s flag in the Under-14 boys category.
Tatenda Mutetwa will represent the country in the Under-12 boys.
Karen Machisa and Rufaro Chirewa will compete in the girls’ Under-16 while Kimberly Bhunu and Beverly Matsiwe will battle in the Under-14 age group.
Vimbai Moyo and Charlotte Zhuwakini are lined up in the Under-12 age group.
