HARARE - A ZBC TV presenter who died after giving birth was buried on Saturday in Mvurwi.
Family sources said Tendai Chitsinde, 24, would have survived the birth on Wednesday last week if the blood she lost had been replaced.
She died from a heart attack triggered by the “massive” blood loss.
Her child also died.
Problems began when a registrar failed to deliver the baby with forceps and used a ventouse, a suction cup, instead at Parirenyatwa Hospital.
She was due to deliver through a C-Section.
Physicians believed if Chitsinde had been given blood, “she would still be with us.”
Her death has drawn attention to the more than 10 women who die every day of pregnancy-related complications in Zimbabwe.
She joined the ZBC in 2012 as Music Request presenter, where she has been stationed until the time of her death.
Born on November 13, 1989 in Harare, she was raised in Queensdale and attended Nettleton Primary School and Trust Academy.
