HARARE - Davies Events, the organisers of the recently-cancelled John Legend show are planning to bring to Zimbabwe British singer James Blunt in February 2015.
As a way of compensating fans for the cancelled All of Me Tour, the promoters are working on bringing in another equally powerful international artiste.
In a statement released on their website, Davies Events Live said this will be part of Blunt’s Moon Landing Tour.
John Legend’s show was cancelled due to “logistical” problems.
The statement reads: “Gabriel Ettlin and Dave Davies confirmed that James Blunt would be coming to Harare for the very first time with his Moon Landing Tour. The concert is being presented by Alpha Media and proudly brought to you by Davies Events.”
James Blunt’s website is confirming the show on February 17, 2015.
The tickets are currently available on their website.
Ticket prices range from $30 to $100 depending on the selected area.
“Fans can expect to hear James perform his smash singles You’re Beautiful, Goodbye My Lover, 1973 and his current hit Bonfire Heart as well as a mix of well-loved songs from his previous albums and current Moon Landing when he performs at the HICC on February 17, 2015 with his full band.
“The configuration of the venue will be slightly different from past shows, with the ground floor being general admission for those wanting to dance and party and the balconies being seated and numbered for those looking for a more distinguished evening.”
The announcement was met with scepticism from the public.
Ekta Naran wrote: “Lol can’t believe this is being announced two weeks after cancelling John Legend!”
Kuda Mushamba wrote: “Well the fact that the John Legend concert ain’t happening makes it a bit difficult to trust that anything will happen at all. Too early...”
Blunt has five Grammy nominations, two Brits, two Ivor Novellos and a host of MTV awards.
He has four number one singles, three world tours with his six-piece band and then the numbers spiral out of control.
He has sales of over 17 million albums and 20 million singles worldwide.
Blunt has over 250 million plays on Spotify and an astonishing 257 million views on YouTube.
