GWERU - Popular stand-up comedian Carl Joshua Ncube is delighted with the way his Feel Good national tour is attracting fairly big numbers in various cities.

The National Arts Merit Award (Nama)-winner made the remarks at the Midlands State University (MSU) on Tuesday night where he shared the stage with Q The Boss and several upcoming comedians before hundreds of comedy fans.

“The attendance has been great; the response has been incredible. Zimbabweans are intelligent and seem to grasp stand-up comedy very well.

“Stand-up comedy is all about experiences and meeting different people.

“Performing to varied audiences can only improve you as a stand-up comic,” he said.

Ncube’s visit to Gweru, as part of his Feel Good national tour, was meant to give a boost to the recently established MSU comedy club.

“This is the first time I have performed at a university in Zimbabwe even though I staged shows at Rhodes University in South Africa,” he said.

The respected jester sampled some of the material he will use during his forthcoming international tour.

“This comedy tour is meant to help me develop material for a series of international engagements I will undertake in South Africa, United Kingdom, Australia and Canada later this year,” Ncube said.

The Harare-based comedian, who plans to perform in five more towns as part of the national tour, conceded though that Zimbabweans are still not comfortable with political satire.
