Gunners firm in Northern Region

HARARE - Gunners cemented their lead at the top of the World Navi Northern Region Division One League table after beating Flame Lily 1-0 in top of the table clash at Chikurubi on Saturday.

With the win, the 2009 Zimbabwe champions opened a four-point lead at the top of the log standings with 55 points.

Before the weekend fixture, Kudakwashe Musaraure’s charges were one point ahead of Flame Lily and with the win Gunners are now firm favourites to win the promotion ticket back into the the top flight.

Mushowani Stars bounced back to winning ways after beating Royal Classic 2-1 on Saturday.

The Mashonaland Central-based side are on third position on the log standings with 47 points, eight behind the log leaders.

Mushowani still have a chance to catch up with Gunners as there are still 10 games to go before the season ends.

Seasoned campaigners Twalumba FC continued with their poor form after they went down to DStv Rangers.

With the defeat Twalumba are now on second from bottom of the log standings with only 20 points.
