HARARE - The National Arts Council of Zimbabwe (Nacz) has urged media houses and artistes to submit their entries for the 13th National Arts Merit Awards (Nama) slated for February 2014 before this coming Saturday.
Cathrine Mthombeni, the Nacz communications and marketing officer, advised all interested parties to comply with the imminent deadline in a press release yesterday.
“The 13th National Arts Merit Awards submissions are due on November 30, 2013. National Arts Council of Zimbabwe (Nacz) urges all production houses, studios, stables, galleries, organisations, associations, groups, artistes, monitors and/or the publics to submit their entries to Nacz offices,” read part of the press release.
Nama, which was launched in 2002, recognises exceptional achievements within the arts sector.
Excelling artistes are rewarded with the aim of stimulating more interest in the arts while at the same time raising profile of the same artistes.
The awards are a means of encouraging creativity and excellence in the quality of the arts in Zimbabwe.
The awards aim to inspire artistes to strive for higher and original forms of creativity and provide an opportunity for arts disciplines to jointly market and publicise the arts locally, regionally and internationally.
