HARARE - Vault cosmetics will launch a ‘Dillish’lip gloss and lipstick collection on Valentine’s Day.
Vault was founded by Hollywood-based celebrity make-up artist, Jackie Muchanyuka-Mgido and was launched here in Zimbabwe.
Jackie moved to the United States of America 20 years ago to pursue make-up art as a career.
She attended Hollywood Make-Up Designery —one of Hollywood’s best make-up schools.
The cosmetic collection involves the 2013 Big Brother Africa winner, Dillish Matthews.
Posting on her Facebook page, the Namibian-born reality show winner, Dillish expressed her excitement about the launch.
“Guys get ready for “Dillish” by Vault Cosmetics launch in Zimbabwe on 14th February 2014, cool matte lipsticks and lip-glosses available soon. Namibia launch is in that same week too!!!! Love yourself this Valentines xoxo.”
Jackie said involving Dillish was one of the best decisions she has ever made.
“What I loved about Dillish is her humbleness. When I approached her with the idea, I told her that as a business that was just starting, I did not have any money to give her and she said it was okay, and we would settle that when things start going on well. I was pleasantly surprised, I mean she has money, she won Big brother and her humbleness is just something to admire.
“I also told her that she would be staying at my sister’s house which was no problem with her. She said ‘Jackie, even if I have to stay in car to help a sister out I will.’
“She was so amazing, and highlighted that as African women, we need to work together in order for us to grow. She is helping me out as a fellow businesswoman and I am glad to be working with her,” Muchanyuka-Mgido said.
She added that working with Dillish would help push the line.
“Dillish is known in most Africa countries, so launching a product in her name is a plus for us as people will identify more with it.
I have been receiving enquiries from South Africans and Nigerians as they are interested in getting involved in the business. I am just glad there is so much enthusiasm from everyone including the people back at home who have been giving me so much support.
“All this time we have been holding off on printing because we were finalising the deal with Dillish. We have just finished everything now and we will hold an event on Thursday night (February 13) where Dillish will be taking pictures with fans as well as signing autographs. The real event will then take place on Valentine’s Day at a local club which we are still negotiating with the honours,” she said.
In an earlier interview with the Daily News, Jackie said: “I got into Hollywood by faith, through a lot of faith and allowing myself to dream. I envisioned it; I saw it and started researching and seeing how I could get there. I went to school and worked really hard, somebody had faith in me, a director (Scott Firestone); he helped me start my career.”
