HARARE - A Harare man has accused his pregnant wife of bed-hopping, alleging some of his spouse’s boyfriends were claiming paternity for her pregnancy.

Gwemende Mugove hauled his wife Nomatter Shoko before the Harare Civil Court denying responsibility for her pregnancy.

Mugove told magistrate Tafadzwa Muvhami that his wife assaults him and was obsessed with men.

He said Shoko does not sleep at home some times and comes home with new clothes whenever she goes out.

“The pregnancy is not mine, there are men who used to come and pick her up at my house,” Mugove said.

“I cannot accept her pregnancy because if I do so I will be bringing bad luck into my family. Her boyfriends are coming home terrorising me claiming the pregnancy belongs to them.”

He claimed he last made love to Shoko in April last year. He said he recently caught her in bed with another man.

“I am not in a position to stay with her anymore and I want her barred from my residential place,” Mugove said.

Shoko contested her husband’s accusations.

“All what he is saying is a lie,” she said.

“We parted ways in October last year but I am three months pregnant with him. He is trying to reject me because I am pregnant.”

Magistrate Muvhami ordered Shoko to stop abusing Mugove before advising her to apply for maintenance on issues regarding her pregnancy.
