CAPE TOWN - Zimbabwe crashed out of the 2014 African Nations Championship at the semi-final stage after losing 5-4 to Libya on penalties at the Free State Stadium in Bloemfontein, South Africa on Wednesday.

The match had finished goalless after regulation time.

In the penalty shoot-out, the Warriors, however, were found wanting as Peter Moyo, Milton Ncube, Ali Sadiki and Simba Sithole all failed to beat Libya goalkeeper Mohamed Abdaula from 12 yards.

Hardlife Zvirekwi, Eric Chipeta, Partson Jaure and Danny Phiri were the only Zimbabwean players who scored their spot kicks.

Warriors goalkeeper George Chigova tried his best to keep his side in the match by saving two penalties from the North Africans but it was not enough.

The Libyans reached the final when Chigova was unable to stop Abdaul’s spot kick from going in after Sadiki had missed his kick.
