'Chinese in criminal sabotage'

HARARE - William Mutomba, the Zanu PF MP for Buhera North,  has castigated the indigenisation policy arguing that it needs to be revised as it was benefiting foreigners.

Mutomba made the remarks in the National Assembly while debating the Presidential speech.

He said Chinese and Indian business persons who are operating in Zimbabwe have taken over all business space that has been a preserve of indigenous locals.

“We have Indians and Chinese in the informal sectors, they are coming here to milk us”, Mutomba said.

“A lot of people, including myself, have been pushed out of business by these people.  I went to the Chinese City near National Sports Stadium and I entered two shops which are selling Chinese products and a few Zimbabweans products.

“I also wonder whether these Chinese have bank accounts here, maybe they are shipping the money they are making in this country to their country. This is criminal sabotage to the nation.”

China has become one of the major investors in the country for the past decade after Zimbabwe fell out with Western countries.
