EDITOR — Coalition Against Corruption (Cac) the leading anti-corruption organisation in Zimbabwe castigates and dismisses the unfounded statements made by Vice President Joice Mujuru in which she blames the media on the way corruption cases are being reported.
The statement by VP Mujuru was quite unfounded especially from a mother of a nation that has seen her children affected and stripped off their normal livelihoods as a result of greediness by a few kleptomaniacs in both government and the private sector.
For the record VP Mujuru, the role of the media is to educate and inform and not to mislead as what you said in a local daily.
The media has done a commendable job in exposing looting of State parastatals by senior government officials and CEOs and their facts are really factual and credible.
Cac expected VP Mujuru as a mother to actually commend the Forth Estate for its role in informing the nation by exposing rampant corruption that has crippled the country to its knees.
The real detractors who are crippling the country are the likes of Cuthbert Dube who are looting hard-earned savings from poor civil servants and live Hollywood lifestyles at their expense.
Cac will continue to work with the media in exposing all scandals regardless of stature and our message to VP Mujuru is: she must not be misled by certain circles and she must also stop blaming the media.
Corruption is a real disaster and lets expose and fight it.
