HARARE - Zimbabwe's top tennis player Takanyi Garanganga's poor form continues after a first round exit at the US National Indoor Tennis Championships over the weekend.
Garanganga lost 6-2 6-3 to America's Denis Kudla in the first round stage.
The Mbare-born player is failing to rediscover his winning formula from last year, having also failed to impress in two different tournaments last week.
Garanganga was knocked out of the Chitre Challenge in the first round, going down to Brazil's Henrique Cunha 6-4, 6-3.
The US-based tennis star also failed to impress at the Dallas TX Challenge on Sunday after he crushed out in the second round.
The Zimbabwean outclassed American Vahid Mirzadeh 6-1, 6-4 in the first round but his run was cut short by Devin Mccarthy, also from the US, who emerged with a 7-6 (5) 6-4 win.
Early last month, Garanganga had a fruitful season opener when he performed well at the Royal Lahaina Challenger.
He reached the quarter-finals before a 3-6 6-3 6-4 defeat to Tsung-Hua Yang of China at the USTA Pro Circuit event hosted in Hawaii.
Garanganga had earlier dismissed America's Daniel Kosakowski in a titanic tussle that ended in 2-6 6-4 7-6 (5) victory before upsetting Canada's Frank Dancevic 7-5 6-3 in the second round.
