GWERU - Two Wha Wha Prison inmates have been hauled before the courts to answer sodomy charges after they were allegedly caught pants down during recreational time.
Pardon Musindo Jumo, 21, and Taurai Pikita, 24, appeared before Gweru magistrate Sithembiso Ncube on Monday to answer allegations of sodomy as defined in Section 73 of the Criminal Law Codification and Reform Act (Chapter 9:23.)
The State, represented by Peason Muringani, alleges that on June 14, 2013 at Wha Wha Prison while other inmates were watching soccer at a canteen, a serving prisoner, Gift Chikukutu was informed by a colleague that the accused were planning to engage in a sodomy act in their cell.
Chikukutu informed Fanny Mpandhle and Cephas Goreraza, who are also inmates at the correctional institution, to witness the investigation.
The trio went to cell number 7 and found the pair in the act.
The matter was reported to the prison officers, leading to the sodomites’ arrest.
The matter was remanded to February 21, 2014.
