HARARE - Rahman Gumbo has sealed a move to Botswana side Gaborone United and is expected to be unveiled at the club this week, it has emerged.

The former Township Rollers’ and Mochudi Centre Chiefs’ coach takes over from David Bright who fell out of favour with the club over disciplinary issues.

Bright is accused of insubordination and negligence following allegations that he allocated rooms to players and technical officials when the club went to play SuperSport United in the African Confederations Cup in South Africa but left out management.

He is also accused of putting the name of the club into disrepute after asking for complementary tickets to give to players’ relatives and friends in front of the club’s supporters ahead of the SuperSport game.

Gaborone United currently trail be-Mobile Premiership log leaders Township Rollers by four points.

Rollers are currently under the stewardship of former Zimbabwe national team coach Madinda Ndlovu.

Meanwhile, Gumbo was expected to be introduced to the players yesterday and is expected to watch the team in action against Notwane on Sunday while awaiting the release of his work permit.

Despite Gumbo’s presence in Botswana, GU secretary Hebert Letsebe however, distanced the club from the coach.

“I have not heard about Gumbo joining us and I cannot say anything at the moment. George Mogopodi is in charge of the team,” told Mmegi Sport.

Letsebe dismissed speculation that Bright will eventually be fired insisting the club is looking into his case.
