HARARE - Government has suspended duty on bottler grade sugar for six months, according to the latest Government Gazette.
Statutory instrument 65 of 2014 states that Patrick Chinamasa, the Finance minister, has suspended duty on bottler grade sugar until June.
“With effect from 1st January 2014 to 30th June 2014 duty is suspended on bottle grade sugar imported by approved importers,” reads the notice.
Schweppes Zimbabwe Limited will be allowed to import a maximum of 2 000 metric tonnes (MT) of bottler grade sugar a month, while Delta Beverages will import not more than 1 200MT a month.
Mutare Bottling Company will be allowed to import a maximum of 180MT of bottler grade sugar a month.
