MUTARE - Chicken Inn Coach Joey Antipas blamed missed chances for his side’s 2-0 defeat away to Buffaloes on Sunday.

The Bulawayo side opened the season with an impressive 3-0 win over Harare City last week, but came unstuck against army side Buffaloes in Mutare yesterday.

“We missed two glorious chances that should have kept us in the game,” Antipas said while congratulating Watungwa-Watungwa for an “inspired performance.”

Buffaloes were coming out of a 5-1 drubbing at Hwange in their season opener.

Prosper Matizanadzo opened the scoring for Buffaloes with a long range effort after 39 minutes before Admire Dzumbunu ensured maximum points 20 minutes from time, tapping home after a Chicken Inn goalkeeper Liberty Chirava spilled the ball.

Buffaloes assistant Coach Timothy “Sicho” Masachi was full of praise for the Mutare soldiers.

“Everyone was fighting for each other and we attacked well. We should have even scored more than two goals.”
