CHIREDZI - Lameck Nhamo grabbed a hat-trick as Triangle won the Lowveld derby 3-1 against Chiredzi FC at Gibbo Stadium on Sunday to get their season up and running.
Fans were treated to a brand of attacking football by both teams at Gibbo Stadium, but Biggie Zuze’s men emerged with the bragging rights of the town.
Midfielder Nhamo opened his account on 50 minutes from close range after he was set up by Praise Tonha.
Chiredzi equalised courtesy of Munyaradzi Chiwara’s marvelous free-kick on 57 minutes.
Blessing Chimwamuchere had fouled Tapiwa Depistara, and referee Antony Ncube awarded the set piece.
Triangle missed an opportunity to take the lead again after Pasca Manhanga’s penalty was saved by Chiredzi goalkeeper Claudius Makore after Fidelis Mangezi had handled in the box.
But from the resultant corner kick by Tonha, Nhamo connected to make it 2-1.
It was Tonha who assisted the third goal again, scored by Nhamo on 80 minutes.
