KADOMA - Brighton Mugoni’s second half goal handed Castle Premiership returnees Chapungu their first three points of the season when they beat Black Rhinos 1-0 at Rimuka Stadium in Kadoma on Sunday.

Chapungu played second fiddle to Rhinos for the better part of the game in the battle of soldiers but capitalised on lapse in concentration by the Rhinos defence on 76 minutes when Mugoni was allowed a free header inside the box off a Gift Phiri corner kick.

The first half was a slightly balanced affair though, with both teams congesting the midfield and as a result depriving the game of much goal-mouth action.

Chapungu coach John Nyikadzino was elated with his team’s first PSL win, having opened with a nil all draw with Highlanders at home in Gweru last week.

“We did not play our normal game but the most important thing is we utilised the chances we got. For a team that is coming from division one, the win is a huge morale booster for us,” said Nyikadzino.

His opposite number, Arthur Tutani, rued missed chances, saying: “If you fail to utilise chances you get punished.”
