HARARE - Harare Civil Court magistrate Tafadzwa Muvhami will today rule on FC Platinum and Warriors midfielder, Ali Sadiki’s maintenance case in which his girlfriend is demanding more than $1 000.
Sadiki was early this month dragged before the Harare Civil Court by his eight-month pregnant girlfriend Sharon Chiwanza who is demanding $1 117 in child support and upkeep.
She wants $600 for her own upkeep and $517 for the upkeep of his five-year-old daughter and unborn child.
Chiwanza claims the footballer has neglected her and the child after she fell pregnant.
She told the magistrate that Sadiki refused to maintain his child but earns a lot of money.
However, the Warriors midfielder offered $200 for his girlfriend’s maintenance, arguing that the child was living with his mother.
The footballer, through his lawyer Bosswell Chideme, told the court that his girlfriend was not staying with the child so there was no need for him to pay maintenance until she applied for custody.
He also said that he earned $400 as winning allowance per game not the $800 which was alleged by Chiwanza. Sadiki said the money is paid on won matches only.
Chiwanza had told the court that the footballer earns $800 per match from FC Platinum and another $800 from the national squad.
She said Sadiki was in a position to pay that money since he gets a lot of money every month.
Magistrate Muvhami postponed the matter to today for judgment.
