KADOMA - Black Rhinos collected maximum points when they edged visiting Chiredzi FC 2-1 in a Castle Premier League encounter here yesterday.
With both teams coming into this encounter after losing in the previous league matches, there were both looking for an outright win hence the search for an opener in the early stages of the match.
Rhinos broke the deadlock in the 21st minute after they were awarded a penalty following a blatant handball by Chiredzi defender Durban Bakali inside the box.
It was a moment of madness by the defender because there was no danger when he handled the harmless cross and Rhinos defender Wilson Chakanyuka sent keeper Simon Kafitire the wrong way.
Chiredzi were level seven minutes later through Sam Musimbu who got to the end of a cross from Munyaradzi Chiwara, who outpaced Chakanyuka from the right side.
Rhinos went back in front under controversial circumstances in the 38th through a contentious goal from Beavan Chikaka.
The former Bosso striker’s effort appeared to have been cleared off the line by a Chiredzi defender but referee Ruzive Ruzive adjudged that the ball had crossed the line.
In a post-match interview Arthur Tutani, the Black Rhinos coach said he was pleased with the result.
"It was a good game because we collected maximum points and not to leave it until the last stages of the season," Tutani said.
Chiredzi coach Moses Chunga said: "We did not play our normal football in the first half and this costs us of vital points."
