ZVISHAVANE - Shabanie Mine coach John Phiri will be gunning for an elusive away win when his side take on Chapungu in the Midlands Derby this Sunday at Ascot Stadium.
The asbestos miners have done everything right at home winning all their three matches but have been woeful on the road.
The Chinda Boys have already lost to Highlanders and How Mine on the road and Phiri believe the match against Chapungu gives his side a chance to break their away form jinx.
"We are coming into this match with only one aim; that is to win the match at all costs,” Phiri said.
“We need to start winning away matches and that has to start against Chapungu. We have rectified our mistakes from previous games and I am very confident that we will come right at Ascot Stadium.
“It’s our second home since we are in the Midlands where we command so much support."
On Wednesday, Shabanie emerged with a 1-0 victory over Bantu Rover at Maglas Stadium courtesy of a penalty converted by their goalie Victor Twaliki.
Phiri’s side could have won the match by a wide margin but they wasted a number of glorious chances to increase the score.
Chapungu come into tomorrow’s match high on confidence following their mid-week 1-0 win over defending champions Dynamos at Ascot.
The Air Force of Zimbabwe side will however, have to play tomorrow’s match without forceful striker Rodwell Mhlanga, who was red carded in optional time in the win over Dynamos after a reckless tackle on Stephen Alimenda.
Midfielder Courage Muzire will also be out of action after also being booked for a silly slap on Alimenda towards the end of the match.
Chapungu coach John Nyikadzino bemoaned the unavailability of the duo.
“I will sadly miss Rodwell because he is one of my star strikers. But life goes on because we have some options,” said Nyikadzino.
“This is a derby and derbies are normally tricky especially when you are coming from another big match like we did against Dynamos.
“But we are well prepared against Shabanie and we are hoping to continue from where we left off against Dynamos."
Chapungu are still to lose at home after drawing their first two games against Highlanders and How Mine before collecting their first win at home against the defending champions.
