ZVISHAVANE - FC Platinum coach Lloyd Mutasa says his team should now shift focus to winning away games after recording their second victory at home against Harare City on Saturday.

Mutasa, who guided Platinum to their first victory over CAPS United at home two weeks ago followed by last weekend’s win over City urged his players to raise their game playing away from home and turn their dominance into goals.

Platinum are still to register a win away from Mandava this season after only managing draws in their away assignments.

The platinum miners needed a last minute equaliser from Thabani Kamusoko in their first away assignment to Chiredzi before surrendering a 2-0 lead against Chicken Inn at Luveve to draw 2-2 which was followed by another draw against ZPC Kariba at Gwanzura Stadium last week.

“I am happy that the confidence is now coming up. It’s good now that the youngsters are now composed and we are winning at home,” Mutasa said.

“We now need to shift our focus and start winning away from home. If you look at the Chicken Inn and ZPC Kariba matches we dominated play but somehow we failed to win those matches.

“Once we start winning away from home, we will be on the right track. I am also glad that consistency is now coming up and the work that we did during the preseason is now beginning to pay dividends as the players are now almost there in terms of confidence and cohesion.”

Platinum, who had a poor start to the season drawing twice and losing once at home, turned their season around with an emphatic win over CAPS United before Saturday’s victory over Harare City.

Rejuvenated left-back Qadr Amin, who is coming back from a lengthy lay off due to injury has played a pivotal role in Platinum’s resurgence, scoring straight from the corner kick against CAPS United and was on target again against Harare City.

Their only away wins this year were in the Independence Cup in which they beat Highlanders in the semi-finals in Bulawayo and Dynamos in the final in Harare.

Platinum will play against tricky Buffaloes in their next away match. Buffaloes are still to lose at home this season.
