KADOMA - Veteran midfielder Clement Matawu propelled Chicken Inn to a 1-0 win over Black Rhinos in a Castle Premiership match at Rimuka Stadium yesterday.
Chicken Inn, who had not won a game since their win against Harare City in the opening match of the season, had the luxury of missing from the penalty spot after Hebert Rusawo saved an effort from captain Danny Phiri in the 61th minute.
The visitors started brightly with Matawu getting the deserved lead in the 35th minute when he tapped in a cross from right back Passmore Bernard.
Rhinos took control of the match in the second half dictating pace in midfield but were however, let down by poor finishing.
Rhinos coach Arthur Tutani was disappointed with his team’s lack of composure in the final third.
“We failed to take our chances and we were punished. We created so many chances but we failed to bury them and we got punished. They had their chances and they converted,” said Tutani.
Chicken Inn coach Joey Antipas was relieved by the win away from home after having gone on a number of games without a win.
“It’s good to be back to winning ways after going for so many matches without a win. It’s good that it gives us confidence going into the next match,” said Antipas.
